A Complete Intro to Landscape Painting (EN)

In this three-part acrylic painting workshop, BC-based artist Kathryn Wadel will guide you through different techniques to create landscape paintings inspired by Canadian wilderness. From the comfort of your own space, learn all about tools, colors, and brushstrokes. Let your imagination take you to beautiful places!

Part I: Skies, Clouds and Sunsets (Saturday, February 25th)
Part II: Majestic Mountains (Saturday, March 11th)
Part III: Techniques for Painting Trees (Saturday, March 25th)

Part I : Skies, Clouds and Sunsets

Kathryn will walk you through different acrylic techniques to paint colourful skies, clouds and sunsets.

Part II : Majestic Mountains

Kathryn will show you how to paint nuanced mountain scenes using acrylics. The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 11th.

Part III : Techniques for Painting Trees

Kathryn will guide you through the process of depicting trees using acrylic painting techniques. The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 25th.


List of materials to bring:

✓ Canvas pad or watercolour paper (9"x12")
✓ Acrylic paints (including but not limited to: bright red or cadmium red hue, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow hue, and titanium white)
✓ Synthetic paint brushes (flat, round and filbert sizes between 2-8)
✓ Paper towel or painting rag
✓ Masonite board or support board (10"x13")
✓ Painter’s tape
✓ Two recycled glass or plastic jars (for paint water)
✓ Palette, palette paper or recycled plastic container with lid
✓ Palette knife
✓ Pencil
✓ Eraser
✓ Easel (optional)
✓ Personal reference images (optional)
