Create a beautiful charcoal portrait! In this two-hour workshop, you will explore a variety of techniques to produce a harmonious portrait: angles and highlights, contrasts, blending, erasing, etc. Julie will share all her tips and tricks! A workshop that allows you to enter the world of portrait drawing with confidence.

Part 1: Materials
To begin, Julie will cover several basic topics: what is charcoal, types of charcoal, choosing paper, squaring and the differences between graphite and pastel.
Part 2: Start Your Drawing
In Part 2, you will learn how to visualise your drawing in terms of mass and volume, and then gradually define your exact shapes, angles and highlights. You will also explore fading, blending and erasing.
Part 3: Adding details
To end the workshop, you will use various observation techniques for adding contrasts and accurate details. You will also get a chance to set or frame your drawing.
