Discover the potential of Polychromos

Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencils are offered in a range of 120 lightfast colours available individually and in sets. Featuring super hard 3.8 mm leads, these pencils can be sharpened to a very fine point without breaking. Waterproof and smudge proof, the oil-based pencils are great for adding details to drawings and watercolour paintings.

How to use:

Valued by professional artists, Polychromos are among the best fine-art quality coloured pencils available. These pencils draw on most surfaces but for best results, a Bristol paper is recommended for use with coloured pencils. By applying various degrees of pressure when drawing, a wide range of shades is possible. The colour can be lifted with a kneadable eraser or erased with a vinyl eraser, although some staining may occur.

Blending:

Blend colours by cross-hatching, shading and layering or use a small amount of solvent applied with a paintbrush. Oil painters love using these pencils for preliminary sketches on canvases. As these pencils are oil based, they can be blended seamlessly with oil paints and solvents to become part of the painting.
