Colour Theory (FR)
Open a world of creative possibilities by exploring colour theory! Understanding colour and its properties in mixtures is essential to one’s artistic process, no matter your level of experience.

Colour temperature, complementary colours, parallels between shades of grey, primary colours and tertiary colours: this theory workshop will allow you to understand colour from a whole new perspective. Through a logical and concrete approach, you will learn to master the art of colour to create lively and harmonious works of art!

Open to all levels. (beginners to advanced)
Ages 12 to 99.

Part 1: What is colour?

To begin, you will learn about the components of paint, how to read information on paint tubes and how pigments are coded – essential information that will allow you to unleash your creativity with greater ease.


Part 2: Colour properties

In part two, you will learn to better understand the effects of key colour properties on mixtures. Julie will discuss value, saturation, temperature and hue – everything you need to create harmonious colour palettes!


Part 3: Pigment wheel and colour wheel

To end the workshop, you will explore how to use the pigment wheel and the colour wheel: two essential tools that allow you to select your pigments based on the shades you want to obtain in your mixtures.

✓ A variety of paint tubes for study and comparison
✓ Pen/pencil and paper to take notes
✓ Primary Acrylic colors red, blue and yellow hot and cold (Dacryl Kolégial Acrylic) : Phtalo blue, ultramarine blue, magenta, red bright, yellow hansa light, chrome yellow.
