Part 1: Exploring the materials and preparing your subject
First, Marie-Hélène will review all the necessary materials for the project. She will then guide you through preparing your subject using drawing gum.Part 2: Practice exercises
Before starting your main project, you will be invited to explore different effects that can be achieved using the wet-on-wet technique. This step will allow you to experiment with the way water moves on paper.Part 3: Project creation
With step-by-step guidance, you will put into practice the techniques you learned earlier by creating a pond with a water lily floating peacefully.
List of materials to bring:
✓ A watercolour set (for reference, the colours used in the model are: Phthalo Blue, Lemon Yellow, Magenta, Violet, Forest Green, Emerald Green, Payne's Grey, Burnt Sienna)
✓ Three round paintbrushes with synthetic or natural bristles, in different sizes (one large for washes, one medium and one small for details)
✓ Two sheets of watercolour paper (9 x 12 in, 140 lb, cold-pressed)
✓ Drawing gum in a jar or marker
✓ One roll of masking tape
✓ A graphite pencil and eraser
✓ An absorbent cloth
✓ Two jars of water
✓ Table salt
✓ Print the template
